Good - Street Kings (2008) *** 109 min. starring Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker and Laurie Hughe (from House M.D). This is a violent cop drama about a "bad cop" trying to go straight. Keanu plays Tom Ludlow, a brooding brave cop, who’ll enter any dangerous situation to get his man. The story is a little confusing at first as events occur without any backdrop to why things are happening but things begin to become clear half-way through the film. The film itself is loaded with action and will hold your interest as everything becomes clearer. Keanu Reeves’ performance is solid but expected – the guy is Nero from “The Matrix” in everything I see him in; the only thing that changes are the situations. One reservation I had with the picture was that I kept asking myself “how does the police force do their job with so much corruption?” “How do they seem to get away with everything they do or don’t do?” All in all, I hope that this is all stylized fiction and that our brave men and women on the force do not have to work under such conditions.
