This book takes a lot of heat in the comments section (on Goodreads) for the lead character's less-than-ethical behaviour. I don't, however, think that we're supposed to approve of her getting most of her society addicted to the "glitter" drug. From what I can tell, this is the story of a scared somewhat self-centered teenager - and, frankly, that's more interesting than if she were a perfect heroine. Very little works out the way she intends, and it is pointed out (to her face) what a horrible thing it is that she's doing. It's actually quite realistic that she can convince herself that she has no choice. I also appreciated several of the secondary characters. I will be reading the sequel.
