A tri-cultural re-interpretation of a feminist classic love story (Pride & Prejudice) and good introduction to the Indian "Bollywood" style of story-telling. The director is upfront--and I agree with her--that the jump to sudden musicals can distract Westerners. This makes the story unnecessarily longer. Lots of color and good choice in the Indian family representing the Bennetts, especially the put-upon parents. For myself, Matthew Macfadyen retains his title as "Best Mr. Darcy". The actor who plays the American Mr. Darcy in this version is a bit too bland.
