The first 50 pages of this hefty volume show that all the basic features of the chain-driven, safety bicycle were invented between about 1870-1900. The balance of this book is 800 variations on the mountain bike. Folding, recumbent, and utility bikes receive passing note. A table of contents by manufacturer's name is provided (but it's too bad that web addresses were not included).
