The #1 New York Times -bestselling author presents a riveting novel where a canine search and rescue volunteer fights danger and finds love in the Pacific Northwest wilderness.

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life-a quaint house on an island off Seattle's coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescues. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare...

Several years ago, Fiona was the only survivor of the Red Scarf serial killer, who shot and killed Fiona's cop fiancé and his K-9 partner.

On Orcas Island, Fiona found the peace and solitude she needed to rebuild her life. But all that changes on the day Simon Doyle barrels up her drive, desperate for her help. He's the reluctant owner of an out-of-control puppy, foisted upon him by his mother. Jaws has eaten through Simon's house, and he's at his wit's end.

To Fiona, Jaws is nothing she can't handle. Simon, however, is another matter. A newcomer to Orcas, he's a rugged and in-tensely private artist, known for the exquisite furniture he creates from wood. Simon never wanted a puppy-and he most definitely doesn't want a woman. Besides, the lanky redhead is not his type. But tell that to his hormones.

As Fiona embarks on training Jaws, and Simon begins to appreciate both dog and trainer, the past tears back into Fiona's life. A copycat killer has emerged out of the shadows, a man whose bloodlust has been channeled by a master with one motive: to reclaim the woman who slipped out of his hands...

I really enjoyed this book -- Nora has done a great job, as always. I loved the dogs, the training and the search and rescue segments. The reluctant romance between Fiona and Simon was at times frustrating and you wanted to 'kick both of them in the backside' but it was also touching and I loved it. I recommend this book for everyone -- and especially Nora Roberts fans. Enjoy.

One of my favorite Nora Roberts books. Suspense, humor, devotion, love, stubburn, dogs--has it all.

I really enjoyed this book. The dog training and search and rescue was great. The romance between Fiona and Simon was wonderful. The language wasn't necessary.

A typical Nora Roberts book, nothing unexpected yet nothing mind shattering.

Sorry, but I really hated this book. It's more like everything you want to know about dog training and not much story. I found the women to be vulgar - do they really need to say f**k so many times? Simon is extremely obnoxious and not likeable from beginning to end. Not one of Roberts' best.

racy for teens but very good story about dogs, handlers, crime

Excellent read. Five stars for a reason. Loved the dogs. Loved the search and rescue sections, also enjoyed the somewhat quirky romance. Would recommend both to dog lovers, and to love story, with scary moments, readers.

Enjoyed this book, but more for the dog lore than anything else. Not a romance fan, so she could've went a little softer on that angle for me and played up the canine-search-team angle a bit more.

Very enjoyable, in particular if you are both a Nora Roberts fan and a dog lover like me. I also loved the Pacific Northwest setting.
