Filled with wonderful surprises, I really loved how this book took some very stereotypical ideas and turned them around. I've read this book three times already, and it bets better each time.

Polly Perk's brother headed off to war and never came back. Since only men can inherit, if her brother is gone for good Polly will lose her family's inn. Polly dresses as a man and enlists in the Borogravian army, hoping to find her brother. Teaming up with a band of misfit recruits, Polly and her new friends head towards certain victory and glory for Borogravia.
