This movie did not do justice to the older version of it. To be completely honest, Will Smith as the Genie scared the living daylight out of me. This movie seems to press towards a more Bollywood kind of feel. This is quite frankly wrong as the original story was told from an Arabian Storyteller. The whole vibe and clothing chosen does not represent at all the origin of the story and it makes the people in charge of the movie look ridiculous. This movie is good to watch as a family, but my family and I personally didn’t enjoy it. I can’t say it tops the original movie. A definite 2 stars out of 5 from me.

Having watched the original cartoons, this was a pretty feeble adaptation. I think if you're really young you might enjoy this, otherwise just save yourself some time and disappointment.

Visually impressive, but nothing else. This 'musical' is probably OK for the younger folks. But it didn't do much for me as I fast-forwarded a good part of it just to see it end.

Any chance the director worked for Bollywood before? : )

The movie is okay. Will Smith does about as well as could be expected. Certain design changes help breathe a little bit of life into the world, although I'm not sure it is necessarily better, because the aesthetic seems conflicted. Jafar's actor was a poor choice.

Disney tries to hone an edge by enlisting Guy Ritchie---but Guy Ritchie only demeans himself as a SELL-OUT in this FAIRY TALE that is inferior to the witty cartoon formerly produced years ago. Yes, the CGI reeks of big money....and Alladin and the princess are uber cute---but it is much too long and too sanitized to be considered anything deeper than Pinnocohio. Sad.

My husband and I actually really liked this movie and I was a huge fan of the first one... The cinematics were awesome and the casting was perfect....

I was so excited to see this, but compared to the live action Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin falls short. I appreciated the feminist additions, but Princess Jasmine's new song did not fit with the rest of the music.

I don't go to see movies in theaters more than once. This is the first movie I've seen twice in theaters. It was that good.

Entertaining, with fresh new faces and amazing costumes and special effects. Can’t say it tops the original, but it holds its own.

Aladdin: Do we need the top knot?
Genie: That’s my little cherry on top.
Aladdin: Okay, okay.

50 quotes in IMDb already, thanks to contributors. The Genie's song caught me by surprise and did not get the lyrics the first time:

Uh-oh! Watch out!
You done wound me up.
'Bout to show you
what I'm working with. Uh!
Well, Ali Baba
He had them 40 thieves
Had a thousand tales
But, master, you're in luck
Because up your sleeves
You got a brand of magic
Never fails
You got some power
In your corner now
Heavy ammunition
In your camp
You got some punch, pizzazz
Yahoo, and how
All you gotta do
Is rub that lamp
And then I'll say
Mister, man
What's your name?
What will Your pleasure be?
Let me take your order
I'll jot it down
You ain't never had
A friend like me
Life is your restaurant
And I'm your maitre d'
Come whisper to me
Whatever it is you want
You ain't never had
A friend like me
We pride ourselves
On service
You the boss
The king, the shah
Say what you wish
It's yours, true dish
How about
A little more baklava?
You ain't never had
A friend like me...
