The next heart-pounding thriller from New York Times bestselling author Riley Sager follows a young woman whose new job apartment sitting in one of New York's oldest and most glamorous buildings may cost more than it pays

No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen's new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. Recently heartbroken and just plain broke, Jules is taken in by the splendor of her surroundings and accepts the terms, ready to leave her past life behind.

As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid, who comfortingly reminds her of the sister she lost eight years ago. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems and the dark history hidden beneath its gleaming facade is starting to frighten her, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story . . . until the next day, when Ingrid disappears.

Searching for the truth about Ingrid's disappearance, Jules digs deeper into the Bartholomew's sordid past and into the secrets kept within its walls. What she discovers pits Jules against the clock as she races to unmask a killer, expose the building's hidden past, and escape the Bartholomew before her temporary status becomes permanent.

When something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. When Jules answers an ad promising to pay thousands just for house sitting in an infamous Gothic apartment building in Manhattan, she jumps at the opportunity. Sure, there are rules, and sure, it could be cursed, but who cares for this amount of money...until other house sitters abruptly go missing. With all the twists and turns, Riley Sager's suspense-filled novel is a hard book to put down.

Tried to picture Jules as a 25-year old woman, but failed. Perhaps, due to Juju's lack of experiential maturity, her deportment has overtones to that of a teenager. In fact, Lock Every Door may appropriately be cataloged as juvenile fiction. The novel starts off promisingly as a good read, but by the end the author has sutured together plot fragments widely disseminated in other books, producing a script analogous to a flimsy fabrication. Ultimately the lead character's overdrive machinations, akin to those of an adrenaline ridden whirling dervish, are no substitute for an original, creative denouement. This reader rues frittering away many hours attempting to glean something noteworthy from Sager's 3rd effort.

Julies is hired to apartment sit at the Bartholomew. Only the rich and famous can afford to live there. But something strange is going on. Other apartment sitters seem to up and leave their job and are not heard from again. Jules know that something is very wrong and wants to find out just what it is. This is a very good book from beginning to end.

Page turning and unique. The book is slightly thicker and when I took it out on a Saturday I thought, "I better make time to read this before it is due back because there are holds on it." I was done the next evening. New fantastic author to add to my favourites list! Can't wait to read his other work!

I wasn't quite sure what to think of this thriller from the beginning...but as the chapters went by I was more and more intrigued about what was going on, which characters to trust, and all of my guesses at the final plot twist were wrong! A great read for a cozy winter night!

I am a huge Riley Sager fan and his newest novel does not disappoint. When Jules begins apartment sitting in a famous New York building, she discovers a missing girl, a possible haunting, and more than a few dark secrets. If you're a fan of Hitchcockian thrillers, this one is for you.

Another solid thriller from an increasingly reliable author. Riley Sagar strikes a good balance between honoring some of my favorite horror tropes while still adding his own new and interesting elements. The setting, a gorgeously creepy gothic apartment building, feels vaguely familiar and delightfully sinister. I found it easy to get emotionally invested in Jules, who does her best to remain strong and curious despite the various traumas she's survived. The plot gets a bit absurd at times and I occasionally found myself despairing at the scientific flaws, but that's all part of the fun of picking up a horror story!

So, so incredibly disappointed in this book! Which sucks, because I was very much looking forward to it!! I think the author tried a modern day spin on The Sentinel/Rosemary's Baby &
and failed. It was, for me, hugely sophomoric (especially for a seasoned author) and very anticlimactic . What a bummer!! Hopefully, better luck next time???

Sager has hit another suspense thriller out of the park with this high rise Gothic building providing the perfect setting. From the start its a "Who, What, and Why" kind of mystery as Jules moves into a famous building with a long list of rules and a wicked set of characters. When things go sideways she finds herself trying to lock every door.
