I would not recommend this to you if you have had a wandering spouse. Matt Bai takes it as a given that the problems of today's politics can be traced to - not the fact that a politician was unfaithful - but to the fact that it made news. Very disappointing.

Quote from the description: /// Matt Bai shows how the Hart affair marked a crucial turning point in the ethos of political media ...\\\, he doesn't. Book is total bullcrap, exactly what thinking people have come to expect from all these so-called self-described journalists! Wasn't there a clown named Sen. "diaper-boy" Vitter who responded on CNN to President Obama's latest executive order? Wasn't that same senator on the D.C. Madam's client list [the very same madam who supposedly died by suicide]? Known for his diaper-boy play with the escort ladies? The Hart affair changed nothing. What a reframing of reality!

Fascinating history, marred a bit by Bai's all-too-evident hero worship of Gary Hart.
