This teen biography is an amazing memoir of a young girl who was rescued from slavery. She was brought to the US illegally from Egypt. Justice was served although it took many years. This is a must read for many including a church small group or required reading for social studies classes. Especially valuable are the tips Shyima gives to identify people being held in bondage and her insight on how to help victims that are rescued.
I enjoyed the book.. It was an easy read and eye opening as well,,
In our modern age there is still child slavery in our society. Shyima was sold as a slave in her home in Egypt. This book tells her story rising from slavery to freedom.
