Edward Malus is a California police officer who takes a leave of absence after witnessing a tragedy on the job. Taking pills to soothe the effects of his post-traumatic stress disorder, Edward receives a letter from his ex-fiance, Willow, requesting his assistance in finding her missing child. She asks him to come to Summerisle, a small island off the coast of Puget Sound, and help her find her daughter, Rowan. When Edward starts investigating Rowan's disappearance, he hears different stories depending on who he speaks to. He hears a number of rumours: Rowan is not Willow's daughter, she may be nonexistent, dead, or soon to die. Refusing to give up, Edward delves deeper into this strange community shrouded in mystery, secrecy, and deception.

This 1973 mystery thriller film stars Christopher Lee, Edward Woodward, Britt Ekland and Ingrid Pitt. This movie is about a sergeant who is investigating the case of a missing child on a small island. Quickly, he notices how the island has strange displays of sexual behaviour, demonic rituals, and mysterious townspeople. The more he uncovers about the island and the people, the more he becomes sure of what happened to that missing child. What I liked about this film is how it kept a very appropriate pace throughout and didn’t try to overcompensate anything. The actors portray their characters wonderfully, which is why I would rate this movie 4.5/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

The original version of this movie was so much better than this Hollyweird to redo a good flick and turn it into garbage. "Where's Rowan Morrison"? She's sure not in this boring pile of *%^$.

Check out the original, and watch the youtube clips of Cage freaking out instead.. This has nothing on the 70's Wicker Man, and almost nothing worth hanging around for.

Nothing, not the decent acting or high production value, can save this from being slow and boring.

Not terrible. Not worth watching. Cage does a decent job acting like a man losing control, as he does in many roles. However, the choices he makes, and the things he decides to overlook, make following his journey to its conclusion hard to bear. Some tense moments, but on the whole a miss as a thriller.

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being good. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”

One side of the disk has a slightly more graphically violent ending and concludes with the "burning crown" scene. The other side of the disk has the teatrical version with toned down violence, the "burning crown" scene and a better schock ending.

Both sides of the disk contain a thuroughly stupid movie. This is one of the worst movies I've had the displeasure of watching in a long time. As much as I hate patriarichal societies and even though I'd like to consider myself a burgeoning feminist, this movie is still stupid. Terrible story, convoluted plot and bad acting.
