Award-winning filmmaker Natalia Almada depicts the brutality of Mexico's drug war through the quiet that falls between the moments of violence. The film follows a night watchman in a Culiacan cemetery, a place populated with large mausoleums of Mexico's most notorious drug lords. Almada's beautiful portrait of daily life in the cemetery sits at the intersection between those who live there and those who rest there.

Stunningly competent film making. This is a photographers movie. As good as it gets for shot composition. If you like direct unstaged, undramatic documentary fine art photography you will love this movie. Very slow pacing. No narration. Simple tripod and handheld 1 camera setups. Lots of closeups of hands, feet, partial faces. In the top handful of visual documentary films that comes to my mind.
